The oil pressure sending unit controls the oil pressure light or gauge depending on what a car is equipped with. When oil pressure is applied, the switch contacts are either shutting off the oil light or making the oil pressure gauge active. Basically, the oil pressure sending unit sends the computer the oil pressure. It is then displayed in the cluster.
